If you’ve ever been to a modern art gallery, you’ve probably seen a smooth, monochromatic sculpture that resembled an Ikea chair. You were likely tempted to sit on it, only to be informed by a small, discreet plaque that what you were looking at was not, in fact, furniture, but art.
Well, now there’s art that you’re more than welcome to sit on.
Artist and designer Jongha Choi has created a series of wall hangings/furniture pieces that are both stylish and practical.
The series, made as part of his master’s thesis, consists of pieces designed to be suspended like two-dimensional wall hangings, but are in fact functional pieces of furniture. Just pull them down and you can unfold them into chairs and tables. It’s a simple, yet elegant design that would look good in virtually any space.
