Artist Carves Intricate Mandalas Out of Paper

Most of us think of X-Acto knives as that thing we keep cutting our fingers on. Japanese artist Mr. Riu has learned some serious skills with the paper-cutting blade, honing his abilities with intricately beautiful images carved out of paper.

With a special swivel knife, he can cut his paper in 360 degrees. His work is beautifully asymmetric and highly detailed. According to Mr. Riu, his work isn’t a product of his patience, but rather his patience is a product of his work. Based on the steady hand needed for some of his recent works, his patience must be off the charts! Check out some of his projects below!
