Artist Makes Complex Designs in a Bowl of Liquid

This guy gives new (or old) meaning to the idea of “water color”.

Garip Ay is a Turkish artist who is well known for his talent at painting in a liquid medium. He has previously been featured on Marvelous for his recreation of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” in a bowl of water. In the video below, Ay starts with a yellow background and 5 circles. Upon first glance, it’s impossible to tell what he’s painting, but as the video unfolds, his simple starting point evolves into an intricate yet simplistic design. The technique used is attributed to a Turkish art style common from hundreds of years ago.

Check out his elegant work and delicate hand in the video below! He had us unable to take our eyes off the screen!
