Pointillism is an art style that involves constructing works by apply paint or some other form of pigment to a medium in rapid succession, creating an image entirely out of little dots.
Artist Elspeth Mclean has put a new spin on the tried and true method.
She has created what she calls “dotillism”, wherein she applies paint to her canvas – one very deliberate dot at a time. She uses her new style to create beautiful and intricate mandalas – an Indian spiritual and religious symbol that represents the universe.
She has described her process as “meditative” and, as the video shows below, she’s done a lot of meditating!
