The human body is a complex and intricate structure. It takes a lot of skill and practice to be able to draw it with any amount of precision.
Luckily, if you’re in Chaun-Bin Chug’s class, you’re going to get A LOT of practice.
He encourages his students to practice drawing the intricacies of the human body and leads by example by doing it himself. Often times, he’ll draw beautifully detailed anatomical drawings on his classroom chalkboard. Despite their impermanence, these drawings are astounding and, thankfully, are often preserved in photographs and videos that he posts to his Facebook page.
As you can see, he uses many ruler-straight lines and exact measurements to make his drawings as precise as possible. His incredible skill shows at every level of the body – from the skeletal system to the muscles and tendons and organs, to the delicate details of a human face.
How did he get this good? Practice – it’s the only way.
