Shintaro Ohata combines sculptures and canvas in his art for an incredible effect. The Japanese artist draws from movies and everyday life to inspire his impressive 2-D/ 3-D works of art. His play on colours and light is the secret behind his success; transforming mundane places such as convenience stores and bus stops into intriguing scenes.
Ohata claims the concept of combining both paintings and sculptures together started when he thought “I could bring the atmosphere or dynamism of my paintings with a more different way if I place sculptures in front of paintings”.
