Iceland, for reasons mostly unknown, could embark on a venture with the architectural firm Choi+Shine to literally transform the Icelandic landscape. The normally dull high-voltage electrical pylons will hopefully be replaced by literal metal giants that will carry electricity across the country. They also have similar proposals for Korea and Norway.
According to the architects Jin Choi and Thomas Shine, these nordic giants would only require slight alterations to the existing designs and structures. Saying of the design: “…we have created a series of towers that are powerful, solemn and variable… Seeing the pylon-figures will become an unforgettable experience, elevating the towers to something more than merely a functional design of necessity.”
Let us hope that one day this comes to fruition and brings happiness to those who look out the window and long to see a greater melding of the timeless beauty of nature and the modern creations of man.
