Vincent Van Gogh was an unappreciated genius in his own time. It wasn’t until well after his death that people began to truly appreciate the brilliance of his work. Even today, it’s hard not to be astounded by the beautiful detail in works like “Starry Night”.
While no reproduction could ever compare to Van Gogh’s original work, this artist comes close.
Garip Ay is a Turkish artist. In the video below he reproduces one of Van Gogh’s most beloved works, Starry Night, using a rather unconventional medium – water.
By pouring colors into a bowl of water and gently arranging them with a brush, Ay produces an accurate and original reinterpretation of Van Gogh’s work. At the end, he destroy’s his work so that he may make something new with its remnants. It’s truly beautiful. Check it out in the video below!
