The Miniature Worlds Trapped Inside Test Tubes

There have been an almost uncountable number of stories involving miniature worlds, shrunken humans, and all kinds of magical adventures that involves new perspectives. Freelance designer Rosa de Jong has now added her voice to this choir of storytelling and talent, and her worlds are simply astounding.

Based in Amsterdam, she also does freelance art direction and animation. While she initially worked for agencies, she now works alone and has her own clients. A simply browsing of her works reveals a cornucopia of talent and versatility.

The rigid confines of glass can pose a bit of a challenge, but it’s one that she is more than willing to explore if the number of her test tube worlds is any indication. Using her own handmade and designed structures, as well as traditional model-making materials, she creates beautiful and surreal worlds seemingly suspended in the air. They are like dream worlds suspended in a fragile ‘bubble’.
