NASA Releases A Treasure Trove Of Photos From The Apollo Program

Space is a vast, inspiring, dangerous, and beautiful place. Our presence, no matter how meager and limited, is a testament to the spirit of adventure that seems inherent in humans. Our desire to reach out and touch the stars has been perfectly captured in this treasure trove of 8,400 previously unreleased photos, courtesy of NASA.

Spanning from the first manned test flight of Apollo 7 through to the final Apollo 17 mission, a portrait emerges of those four incredible years. While we are familiar with the classic photos of the footprint and the ‘Blue Marble’, these albums bring out the humanity of the entire endeavour, and just how far we journeyed in a decade.

Going through these pics showcases the aspirational daring of the human spirit starkly contrasted with the relative simplicity of the technology that somehow landed people on the moon. These are pictures to look upon when you wish to reflect on just what great things we have accomplished when united, and what great things we remain capable of doing.
