It may sound a little anarchic, but there is something truly beautiful about seeing a once decadent and luxurious structure slowly crumble to the ground. Abandoned ballrooms, rotted-out frames of hotels that were once full of life – these things, just by standing, tell a story, or at the very least imply one.
It would seem that Brian of preciousdecay.com would agree. Much of his photographic works centre on symbols of excess (ballrooms, theaters, first-class trains) that have been forgotten left to suffer at the hands of father time.
His photos speak to the unyielding progression of time. Even the most lauded or well-regarded things will see an abrupt end to their heyday sooner or later.
Each of these photos speak volumes on their own, so I recommend you take the time to peruse them carefully. If you like what you see, check out more of his works on his website, his Facebook page or on his Instagram page.
