How A Piece Of Chocolate Connected Two Holocaust Survivors

World War Two remains – and likely will remain for some time – seared into the collective memory of humanity as one of the bloodiest and most heinous periods of human history. It was a display of our species at its worst. While the war crimes and savagery ranged from Japan, to the Soviet Union, and to Germany, the European Holocaust remains one of the most atrocious acts ever committed by a government and a people against a minority ethnic group.

Though the 30s and 40s were a dark time for the world, there were also incredible stories of bravery, survival, and sacrifice. One of these incredibly personal stories belongs to Francine Christophe, a French Jewish woman who was deported with her mother to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1944.
