Careful what you do with these horses; bronze doesn’t grow on trees, you know.
Deborah Butterfield is a Montana/Hawaii-based American sculptor and artist. She was born on the same day as the 75th Kentucky Derby – a fact that she partially credits for her frequent fascination with horses. Though her studio is in Hawaii, she lives on a farm in Bozeman, Montana.
This series of sculptures depict a variety of horses, each one sculpted out of bronze designed to look like tree branches. It must be exceptionally difficult to find bronze trees in either Hawaii or Montana.
