One need only look at the TV set every night while eating dinner to see stories across the world of the very real challenges posed by migration and the need (beyond any politics about the issues in play) to attend to the most basic rights of people who have fled their homes, violence, and persecution. Even still, governments and organizations can struggle to provide the resources necessary such as temporary shelter and water.
Weaving Home is a fabulous design idea and concept by Abeer Seikaly that addresses these issues. Offering a straightforward and easy-to-make temporary tent structure that provides shelter and shade, the ingenious design of the exterior also facilitates water collection from the atmosphere. What’s more, from a design point of view these tents are stylish and engaging.
