We have shown before how light can be artistic in its own beautiful way. Lanterns, LED displays, and even the flickering of a candle can be beautiful, and have us experience a range of emotions. Light can also be used to create illusions for our enjoyment.
Polish artist Przemek Krawczyński has been making lamps out of calabashes (bottle gourds) since 2009 when he accidentally came across the fruit. He knew he needed to make another one, and it rather quickly became his passion.
Having studied building engineering and having worked in an architectural studio, this is reflected in his works. Be they exploitations of intricate geometry, or beautiful designs that project patterns and mood lighting for a room, his gourd lamps are sublime, warm, intricate, inviting, and incredibly enrapturing.
